On this year's Haiku Day, I introduced the results of my research on Matsuo Basho's haiku, but I noticed that some of them were questionable, meaning that it was not possible to determine if they were truly Basho's works. Therefore, this time, I re-examined 982 haiku from Iwanami Bunko's "Basho Haiku Collection" that can be definitely attributed to Basho. As far as I have researched, 93 out of 982 haiku have birds in them. The distribution of species is shown in the graph below, but the overwhelmingly popular one is still a Lesser cuckoo. Note that 3 of the 93 have two species of birds, so the total number of figures in the graph is 96.
