昨日の記事で松尾芭蕉の全982句のうち特別な3句だけ2種の鳥が出てくると書きました。下記の3句がそれになります。
- 鷹の目も今や暮れぬと鳴く鶉
- 雲雀鳴く中の拍子や雉子の声
- 冬牡丹千鳥よ雪のほととぎす
猛禽依存症の私としては1の句が気に入りました。これが詠まれたのは元禄4年秋だそうです。そう言えば昨年の秋に自宅そば相模川で同じ日に
ハイタカと
コリンウズラを目撃したのを思い出しました。
In yesterday's article, I wrote that out of all 982 Haikus by Basho Matsuo, only three special Haikus feature two species of birds. They are the three shown below.
- The quails start calling because it becomes dark and the hawks cannot find them.
- Skylarks and pheasants are singing together.
- A plover calling with winter peony flower makes me imagine a lesser cuckoo singing in snow.
As a raptoholic, I like the first one. It is said that this Haiku was written in the autumn of the 4th year of the Genroku era. I remember seeing a Eurasian Sparrowhawk and Northern bobwhites on the same day at the Sagami River near my house last autumn.
